Born in Sydney, Australia, my life took an unexpected turn at the tender age of two. After being diagnosed with Poliomyelitis I was confined to Camperdown Children’s Hospital, I sought refuge in the boundless expanse of the sky, dreaming of far-off adventures.
Later, books became my passport to magical realms. Classics like Alice in Wonderland and Mary Poppins transported me to worlds of wonder, fueling my imagination and aiding my recovery. It was during these formative years that my passion for writing ignited.
Adversity has been my constant companion, yet it has also been my greatest teacher.
The challenges I’ve faced have fueled my determination to succeed. My story is one of resilience, imagination, and a lifelong pursuit of storytelling.
Paddling through the serene waterways of the Gold Coast, I was struck by a growing problem: litter. The once pristine canals and creeks were marred by discarded plastic and other rubbish. I spent countless hours cleaning up canals and creeks, but the trash kept returning. The sight of a lifeless bird entangled in fishing line was a heartbreaking turning point. I knew I had to act.
I decided to use storytelling to educate young minds about ocean pollution. The “Rubbish Rebellion” series was born! “Yapper the Unhappy Snapper” was the first book, followed by “Otto the Otter Muddy Puddle” and “The Forest Fairies.”
Children are never too young to appreciate the magic of storytelling, and early education about global issues is key to a sustainable future.
We can’t change the beginning, but we can start today and change the ending.
